As a coach, most likely you’re already creating your core piece of content on a consistent basis. Let’s explore 5 simple ideas you can repurpose your content.
Whether you’re creating a regular blog, podcast, or video, you know that over time publishing your message will attract your ideal client.
But are you tapping into the full potential of reaching your audience?
For many coaches, once their blog, podcast, or video has published, that’s it! It’s time to move onto the next article or episode. Frustration peeks it’s ugly head of wondering if anyone is seeing your message.
Here’s where repurposing your content comes into play.
Why repurpose?
Not everyone digests content in the same way. And much of the time, one piece of content leads to another, then another. Repurposing amplifies your message.
What repurposing boils down to is capturing one idea, one topic, in any given time period (weekly, monthly) and carry that idea out in different forms, in multiple ways.
Here are five ways you can amplify your message through repurposing.
Share on Social Media in Multiple Ways
This may be a no-brainer…but are you sharing your core piece of content to all your social channels? Multiple times?
You may be sharing a notice that you’ve published your latest blog, podcast, or video. That’s one post…a little announcement. Most folks are posting the announcement.
You should go further and schedule multiple social posts that are highlighting different points made in your core content? Use different images. Say something slightly different. All you’re doing is keeping with the same basic topic.
Think of it this way. Your social posts are an abbreviated version of your main topic.
Email Your List
Believe it or not, this opportunity is missed by more coaches than you may think. Many are afraid of emailing their list too often. Some are paralyzed as to what to say in the email.
Let the topic of your blog, podcast, or video be your guide. Simply draw out a piece of the content written in a way that your speaking to one individual, then point the reader to the link to your full content.
How your email will take shape depends on your style and your audience. You may write up a quick plain text note and send to your list. You may opt to incorporate newsletter that will give a summary or curate your newest content.
Create a Blog Post from Your Video or Podcast
Publishing audio or video is fantastic, but don’t miss the opportunity to add this content to your website in the form of a blog post.
From your notes that you’ve prepared for your episode, make a summary of your topic. It doesn’t have to be extensive. Be sure to embed your video or audio player for the episode and direct the reader to watch or listen for the full piece of content.
This not only can help with your SEO rankings; you have a different link that can be shared on social to drive followers to your website.
Backlink to Past Content
Over time, you’ll start having quite the library of content. You’ll be writing, speaking, or videoing similar topics.
You’ll give an overview of a subject matter in one post. Then you’ll drill down to cover more specific sub-topics in other posts. You may share something similar a year later and describe the concept from a different angle.
What happen is that you’ll have plenty of opportunities to mention previous pieces of content, through hyperlinking.
Hyperlinking relevant information enhances the reader’s online journey. It’s easy for your reader to click and follow the link in areas where they want to learn more information. Backlinking also helps with your SEO.
Many may not think of backlinking as repurposing content, but we do. In our minds, you are breathing new life into older content by mentioning it or referring to it again. Most likely, you’ll share the link in social yet again in a fresh creative way.
Add Zoom Recordings to YouTube
The use of Zoom has exploded because of how the pandemic conditions had turned many work situations on its head. The internet airways are jammed packed with video calls.
Depending on the context of your Zoom call, perhaps the content would be perfect to share on your YouTube channel.
Do you record your podcast interviews on Zoom? Maybe it’s time to use the video from the call and add to YouTube.
Here’s where magic happens. Once you load your Zoom recording onto YouTube, follow the steps above.
- Share the YouTube ink on your social platforms (more than once)
- Email your list with a brief message and encourage them to click the link to watch your full video
