These are the steps to get your podcast listed on the Apple Podcasts directory.
In order to submit your podcast to iTunes, you must first meet these requirements:
- You must have a Podcast Connect account
- An RSS feed that includes required tags, one episode, and artwork.
Set Up Your Podcast Hosting Account
For your podcast to appear in iTunes, you must first choose a podcast hosting site. We like and use Libsyn.
A podcast hosting site is where your podcast episodes are stored in a hosting site. Then, using the RSS feed Libsyn creates, your podcast is distributed to different podcast players, like iTunes.
- Create your Libsyn account.
Complete your show settings by filling out fields and uploading files to include:
- Show name
- Description
- Category
- Tags
- Contact Information
- Intro episode
- Show artwork
Connect Your Podcast to Apple Podcasts
- Create your Apple Podcast Connect Account
- Go to Podcasts Connect.
- Sign in using your Apple ID and password.
- Don’t have an Apple ID? Create one.
- Accept the terms.
- Under My Podcasts, select the plus sign [+].
- Navigate to your Libsyn account.
- Select Destinations in the menu bar.
- In the Quick Links section, copy the Libsyn Classic Feed URL.
Example: https://yourshowname.libsyn.com/rss - Navigate back to your Apple Podcast Connect Account.
- Past the URL into the RSS Feed block.
- Click the Validate button.
- Your RSS feed is evaluated for any errors.
- Once there are no errors, you may submit your podcast for review.
- Review process may take up to 5 days.
- Wait for email notification or check progress in your Podcast Connect account.
- Once approved, then your podcast should show up on Apple Podcasts within 24 hours.
Ta-Da! Your podcast is listed on Apple Podcasts.
Each new episode uploaded to Libsyn will then appear on Apple Podcasts.
