It’s quite handy to be able to grab a screen clip to use in cheatsheets or communication with your team. If you have a Windows computer, here’s how to use the snipping tool to make screen captures a snap!
Click the search button on your taskbar. Search “snip” and you will see the result “Snipping Tool” or “Snip and Sketch” if you are working on an updated Windows computer.
Snipping Tool
When the program opens you can click on “new” to start your new screengrab.
Once you click on new, your background will go light. Use your cursor, that is now a crosshair and press and hold the left button of your mouse and hold and drag until you have the entire image you want to capture in frame.
The image you are trying to capture will appear on your screen in the snipping program. From there, you can copy to past where you need the image, or you can save as a JPG to the destination of your choice.
Snip & Sketch
When the program opens you can click on “new” to start your new screengrab.
Similar to the previous program, the background will go light.
Press and hold the left button on your mouse, and highlight what you want to capture.
Your screengrab will appear in the program. From there, you are able to edit and use the tools on the top of the screen. You are able to highlight or draw directly on the image.
In the top right corner, you are able to save or copy the image.
